Full Super Moon in Aquarius, August 11th, 2022

As we mentioned on our “About” page, the lunar cycles are an aspect of earthly life that we pay close attention to. This full moon is one that we’ve been looking forward to for the last couple of months. It will be the last super moon of the year and it has some rather intense aspects to it. While it may not be a very comfortable time in the cosmos, it is an excellent time to do some cord cutting.

Super Full Moon in Aquarius

Time: 9:36pm Eastern on 8/11/22

Sun: 16 degrees Leo

Tarot Association: Six of wands (Lord of Triumph)

Moon: 16 degrees Aquarius

Tarot Association: 6 of swords (Lord of Science)

First, let’s look at the details of this moon.

Just to be clear, we are not astrologers (yet) … we’re just enthusiasts. We take our full moon understandings from astrologers we respect. With that said, rumor on the interwebs is that this full moon is SERIOUS.

The sun is in the second decan of Leo which is related to the six of wands and pertains to success. It is the “lord of triumph” after all. The question must then be asked “how have you become successful?” which we’ll come back to in a moment.

The moon is at 19 degrees of Aquarius which is associated with the six of swords and pertains to problem-solving and sailing into smoother waters.

And then there’s the serious aspect of the moon conjunct Saturn, the planet of seriousness. And this feels HEAVY. Like something we just can’t deal with anymore and that we no longer have the time for.

And as always, full moons are times of letting go.

So, what does all of that mean?

When we start to piece all of this archetypal information together we have an energy that conveys a need to let go of something that may have attributed to our success, but that is no longer in our best interest and in fact, may actually be inhibiting our growth.

To be clear, there are other aspects occurring under this super full moon creating more tension and sudden disruption, and the way these things will manifest in your life depends entirely on your personal chart. But for now, we’re going to focus on the large overarching themes because it’s creating a great cosmological alignment for cord cutting.

So, let’s talk a bit about cord cutting…

Cord Cutting

Cord cutting is a ritual in which the physical action of burning or cutting a string is used to represent the removal of energetic attachments.

I’m sure we all have someone or something in our life which is inhibiting us and that we would like to remove from our lives. And that’s what we are encouraging you to do in observation of this full moon.

The real trick to successful cord cutting has everything to do with your emotional state regarding the cord cutting. Emotions are a measure of energy within you. So in order to discuss cord cutting we kind of also have to discuss forgiveness.

I (Stormie) have a youtube channel (at least technically I do, though I haven’t posted in over 4 months), and once upon a time, I made instructional full moon ritual videos on Forgiveness and release as well as cord-cutting. And while I find these older videos to be a little cringy, typing all of the information out would make for an extraordinarily long blog post. So instead of all that typing, I’ll just include those videos.

It’s worth noting that there are a lot of ways to do “cord cutting". The (embarrassingly failed) method here is a super simplified version. Another common method that I enjoy and prefer if I have the supplies is to actually use small candles to represent each person by carving their name into the candles. Then, you can tie a string to the candles and allow the string to catch fire as the candles burn down.

However you choose to observe this full moon we encourage compassion. Full moons are notorious for heightened emotional states, so take a breath, stay centered and show a little extra empathy for your fellow humans.

Happy Full Moon,

Stormie & Drew
