Lansing Michigan Ayahuasca Retreat
So, technically this was not a “Gaian Rhythm” retreat. I (Stormie) am still working furiously behind the scenes to complete the website and various other logistical matters before we can officially announce our new identity. We plan to make it official on the July 28th New Moon because… astrology, obviously. So our latest event was still under the name of “Butterfly Medicine” but as I’m working on the site I thought “ This retreat DESERVES to be our first official blog post.” I say that because the group was phenomenal and after a 9 1/2 week road trip around the country during serving at various retreats, it was just so good to be back home in the mitten. I should also say that to be fair, every group is phenomenal. It doesn’t make sense that they can all feel like favorites, but they do. This group though, they were troopers! They were also the most helpful, go-with-the-flow group I’ve ever seen. They wanted to help, they basically begged. We had so many helping hands that the moving locations with a Uhaul an hour before the ceremony was somehow a total breeze. it was also one of many beautiful bonding moments full of laughter.
I wont ramble about it too much except to say that our plans of setting up a 20x40 tent were crushed immediately upon arrival, and with the rain we had to scramble to find a dry space for our first night ceremony. We successfully did so at the expense of having to set it up and tear it down directly (and I do mean DIRECTLY) before and after the ceremony. This is where all those helpful hands come into play. The following evening we had a miraculously mosquito-free outdoor ceremony surrounded by tiki torches. Lastly, on Sunday we had a daytime ceremony followed by a huge family dinner catered in by the Detroit filling station… in Ann Arbor. And on that note, if someone knows of a great place to order huge amounts of vegan, medicine-friendly food out of Lansing please feel free to let me know for future reference.
All in all Michigan showed up as per usual. I don’t care what anyone says I LOVE the midwest. Thank you to each soul who joined us that weekend. You will be forever cherished. And for those who came to sit with us for the first time: Welcome to the Butterfly Family!
